Best Happy Hours

Down the Hatch
179 W. 4th St
New York, NY 10014
212-627-9747

Mon-Fri 12:00pm – 8:00pm: All drinks are 1/2 off

What it's like:Sporting a ridiculously cheap happy hour, a foozeball table, a beer pong table and even a porch swing to sit on inside, you would be foolish to not attend a happy hour at one of Greenwich Village’s best bars. Catered to the college crowd, that is exactly what you will get here. It even looks like one of those dives you would find in your old college town, only it’s in the heart of one of the busiest drinking districts in all of NYC. A very attentive bar staff compliments this place, and you are bound to enjoy the mostly rock music that plays over the speakers in this “basement” bar.

Not to be missed are their wings too. Down the Hatch has a lot of different flavors and heat levels to try out, and the wings might be the best in the city.

Bar Coastal
1495 First Ave. (78th and 1st)
New York, NY 10075
212-288-6635

Mon-Fri 4:00pm – 7:00pm: $3 Bud/Bud Light Drafts, and well drinks

What it's like:Bar Coastal is a pretty unique bar in NYC that is modeled after the countless beach bars in Southern California. A friendly bar staff, cheap specials, a large number of TV’s and some of the best wings & onion rings in the city make this a solid choice for happy hour.

Those SoCal transplants (like I Lush New York’s Adam) who long for something that remind them of “home”, will enjoy that even for a short period of time, you feel like you are back in the land of no worries and no winters.

American Trash
1471 1st Ave (Between 76th Street and 77th Street)
New York, NY 10075
(347) 537-3522

Mon-Fri 5:00pm – 8:00pm: $2.50 Bud Light Drafts / $1.00 off all drinks

24/7 Specials: PBR’s - $3.00 // Miller High Life Buckets (4 beers total) - $12.00 // 4 Shots (on select liquor only) - $10.00

What it's like:Awesome bartenders, great drink specials and a pretty cool drinking crowd make this “dive bar” one of the best deals in the city for a happy hour or any other time. Some of the best things about this place include the pool table which offers lively games with other patrons, a lot of TV’s that are great for catching some of the best games out there, and an on-line juke box, which makes the music selection seem endless.

This place is so anti-pretentious that it makes it one of the best bars in the city, a seemingly vast step up from the expensive happy hours you will find in the villages and lower Manhattan. It’s also only a few blocks down from the 6 train, so getting there is not a headache as well. Definitely an I Lush New York favorite.

Off The Wagon
109 MacDougal St.(between W. 3rd & Bleecker St.)
Greenwich Village
New York, NY
(212) 533-4487

Mon-Fri 2:00pm-8:00pm – Half off the entire bar

What it's like:Pitchers for under $7, shots for under $4, and 3 beer pong tables make Off the Wagon an decent choice for happy hour. The bar itself has a nice open front area for those warm summer days, and it does extend a rather crowded bar a little bit more to create more space.

It should be noted though that there is a very high ratio of douche bag type guys who go here, so if you are looking for your future wife at a happy hour, then there are definitely better options, but if you are looking for a cheap place to go with coworkers or to meet friends for some solid cheap drinking, then Off the Wagon is a tolerable place to be for a few hours. Just be careful of all that hair gel that will surround you.

The Stumble Inn
1454 2nd Avenue
New York, NY 10021
212) 650-0561

What it's like: This is seriously one of the cheapest deals in the city. Less than $7 for a pitcher? Cheap shots? Cheap Jägerbombs? Sign me up! Not only are the pitchers cheap, but this place also has two beer pong tables! So while you are enjoying college prices on beer, enjoy partaking in the greatest college game of all time as well as you test your skills throwing a little ping ball ball into a cup in chase of glory. Aces & Eights
1683 1st Avenue
New York, NY 10128
212) 860-4020‎

All day & every day $10 60oz. pitchers of Michelob Ultra

What it's like: It's the happy hour that doesn't sleep in the city that doesn't sleep. With more beer pong tables than the most epic house party ever, this place is made for those wishing to partake in a little friendly competition in the honor of drinking. $10 60oz. pitchers help too, making it not to extreme on the wallet. Sure Ultra tastes like ram piss, but if you want to play multiple games of beer pong for cheap, then this is your place. Also, this isn't like some of those other bars that offer the chance to play and then you wait and wait and wait for 1000 games to finish on the one table they have before you even get to throw. No, Aces and Eights has almost a zero wait time for most of the drinking hours to get on a table and start drinking. That being said, it should be noted that the wait times come later at night. This place does get crowded later as the evening hours pass by, so these tables do fill up eventually. Still, if you are doing a happy hour? This place will accommodate quite nicely.

Also to be noted is their surprisingly cheaper jukebox that boasts thousands of songs as well as fun arcade games such as buck-hunter and the ridiculously addicting "Golden Strike Bowling"...yes you read that right, but don't laugh until you have tried it...I'm sure you will end up spending hours with teams rolling the old ball down the lane.
