Adam's Favorite Bars
McCann's Pub
3615 Ditmars Boulevard
Long Island City, NY 11105
(718) 278-2621
Get a Guinness poured right!
What's it like? McCanns was the first place I called a favorite spot since moving to New York City. The beer selection is pretty decent, they have a great liquor selection and their Bloody Marys are some of the best this city has to offer. One thing about McCann's is that the bartenders know how to pour Guinness. Too many NYC bartenders use a 16oz. glass, pour it all at once, or do the double pour too quickly. Not at McCann's, no, they use the "regulation" 20oz Guinness Glass and it takes a few min to pour, it's the way Arthur would have wanted it. Also McCann's has about 15-20 TV's both big and small around the bar for sporting events, and even offers free UFC PPV fights. The food here is also the absolute best bar food I have EVER had, and I am not being funny. Their Steak Tidbits are legendary and their Honey BBQ Buffalo Bites are a can't miss. You will always find this bar crowded, but Richie one of the head bartenders is probably the best bartender I have ever seen, your wait time for a drink on even the craziest of nights at McCann's is minimal. The staff is great, the booze is plentiful, and the food is fantastic. McCann's is definitely a place I will always call home.

Ruby's Old Tyme Bar and Grill
1213 Riegelmann Boardwalk,
Coney Island
Brooklyn, NY 11224
The oldest bar on Coney Island's boardwalk
What it's like? It's almost like stepping back in time here. The juke box plays Sinatra and the beer is ice cold. There is nothing fancy about Ruby's, but that's what makes it so great. While Ruby's is not cheap ($5 a beer), being able to sit at a bar sipping a beer while enjoying the view of th Atlantic Ocean, which looms only a few feet away, is not the most commonly found watering hole. Summer boozing couldn't be spent any better.

Phoenix Park
206 East 67th Street
New York, NY 10065
(212) 717-8181
$4 drafts and well drinks Mon-Fri 11:30am-7pm - $4 drafts of Bud and Bud Lite Sat& Sun 12:00pm-7pm!
What it's like Phoenix is a small bar on the Upper East Side, tucked away among businesses and the ever congested and busy 1st-Lexington avenues, this Irish pub has a decent happy hour for the neighborhood and a friendly bar staff. The regulars are some of the best I have been around, they like joke and talk sports with everyone and anyone. Phoenix also gets a large soccer crowd, and you can expect a packed bar during Premiership games with each side of the establishment divided with respective supporters cheering their lads on. Phoenix Park also has quite a good menu, and ranges from traditional Irish food to tasty pasta dishes. I suggest the sliders, they are seriously some of the best I have had in the city!.
